Privacy Policy

Effective 20 May 2026

Overview

Aurla (“we”, “our”, “us”) operates a personalised AI-generated audio news briefing service available on iOS and the web. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. By using Aurla you agree to the practices described here.

Data we collect

  • Account information. When you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your email address and a unique identifier from the provider. Apple may withhold your email on subsequent logins; we store whatever is shared on first sign-in.
  • Topic preferences. The topics and weights you configure are stored to personalise your brief.
  • Delivery settings. Your chosen delivery time and timezone are stored so we can schedule your brief.
  • Push notification token. If you grant notification permission, your device’s push token is stored to deliver your brief notification. We do not use it for marketing.
  • Brief history. Generated audio and transcripts are stored in your account for the duration your plan covers.
  • Usage analytics. We collect anonymised, non-identifying events (e.g. “brief played”, “paywall viewed”) to understand how the product is used. No personally identifiable information is attached to these events.

How we use your data

  • To generate, deliver, and store your personalised daily brief.
  • To send push notifications when your brief is ready.
  • To authenticate you and manage your account and subscription.
  • To improve the product using aggregated, anonymised usage data.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

Third-party services

Aurla uses third-party services to operate, including AI content generation, news aggregation, cloud infrastructure, push notification delivery, and authentication providers. Each service is subject to its own privacy policy. In all cases, we share only the minimum data necessary for the service to function — we do not share your personal information (name, email, or account data) with content generation or news services.

Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Brief audio and transcripts are retained for the period covered by your plan (7 days on Free and Base; 30 days on Pro). If you delete your account, all associated data is deleted within 30 days.

Security

Your data is stored in the EU (London) region with encryption at rest and in transit (TLS 1.2+). Authentication tokens are signed with a cryptographic secret stored in a secure secrets manager. We implement the principle of least privilege for all internal service access.

Children

Aurla is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

  • Access. You can request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Deletion. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data.
  • Portability. You can request an export of your topic preferences and brief history.
To exercise these rights, email privacy@aurla.app.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice in the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
